Clean Colon Helps Disease Prevention

Tags: , , , , , |

“Death begins in the colon” is a frightening statement, but one frequently repeated in relation to our body’s overall health. Our colon is tasked with carrying toxins and waste from the body. Toxins, bacteria, and food remnants can build up in your digestive system and colon, which can lead to constipation and bloating. However, the most critical function impacted by this build up is the body’s ability to extract nutrients from food you eat and deliver them to the rest of the body. Nutrient intake, or lack of it, directly affects your immune system’s ability to stay strong and protect you. If your body can’t effectively extract and deliver nutrients from your food your immune system and your health will likely suffer. This is why maintaining a clean and healthy digestive system and keeping the Colon clean helps to prevent disease.

Why We Need Mineral Supplementation

Tags: , , , , , , |

Minerals are grouped into two categories. Those that are considered to be required in our diets in amounts greater than 100 milligrams per day are called major minerals (calcium, chlorine, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium and sulphur). Those considered to be required in our diets in minute amounts (less than 100 milligrams/day) are called trace minerals. Each makes up less than 1/100th of one percent of our body weight. But that small amount is essential! But why do we need mineral supplementation?

Diverticulitis Symptoms and Causes

Tags: , , , , , |

There are several causes that have been targeted, but the main cause of Diverticulitis disease seems to be a low-fiber diet. The reason for this assumption is that the Disease was not found in USA until the early 1900s right when processed foods were brought into to the American diet. Processed foods, in general, contain refined, low-fiber flour, containing no wheat bran. Therefore, dietary changes are the first natural treatment for Diverticulitis when surgery is not the preferred treatment.

Children Overweight | Vitamin D Deficiency

Tags: , , , , |

Kids that are overweight often fall short in two areas; 1) They are overfed (too much sugar) and 2) They are malnourished. New research has suggested that kids with more body fat and faster weight gain tend to have low levels of Vitamin D. This vitamin is technically a hormone which suggests another hormonal characteristic to excess body fat.

New Year’s Resolution-“Failure Is Not An Option”!

Tags: , , , , |

Probably the most popular New Year's Resolution or “goal” these days is to lose weight. What happens? We go to a nearby gym around the 30th of December, get that membership, and spend hundreds on “weight loss supplements”. That first week goes well; we hit the gym 6 times, eat relatively well, but there is a problem showing up right away; we are SORE. Oh, the pain that comes along with those first workouts pushes us further away from continuing down the road. The second week lacks some intensity because of the soreness from the first. By week 3, we had found other things that took priority over this once high priority. By week 4, it’s just another goal that will WAIT for another 334 days. Foiled again!
